8 week – Workplace Mindfulness based Program

The Why.

Stress is a normal human response to feeling threatened or under pressure to behave in a particular way.  Through conditioning and our environment we creatively develop ways of coping which aren’t always beneficial to our health and wellbeing in the long run.  Employee stress and burnout is on the increase in workplaces.  Stressed employees are more likely to be actively seeking a new job.  Equally employees are likely to give greater loyalty to employers who demonstrate an interest in their wellbeing.  Thousands of peer-reviewed scientific papers prove that Mindfulness improves mental and physical wellbeing while also enhancing creativity and decision making.

The How.

The 8-week Mindfulness Based program with workplace groups is run onsite or online using Zoom. This course is ideally for twelve to fifteen participants for one hour at the same time each week. Classes can be held before, during or after work. All details are negotiable. In addition to attending the weekly class individuals are requested to listen to a guided practice for fifteen minutes each day to build their Mindfulness muscle which consolidates the learning during the eight weeks. The program is a building blocks program which is experiential, interactive and practical. Classes include short guided practices, enquiry into the experience of the practices in class and home practice plus a variety of practical activities supporting different learning themes each week.

The Benefits.

Responses to the programs vary from individual to individual. From greater self-awareness, feeling less stressed, more calm, being fully present more often, greater concentration and focus, stronger connection with others due to more active listening and clearer communication, noticing more choices in responding to life’s challenges and actively being more kind and caring towards themselves and others.

The Introduction.

I provide an introduction to Mindfulness presentation, followed by a short guided practice and Questions and Answers session for organisations who are interested in exploring the possibility of running a program in their organisation. Interested participants usually sign up for the program having experienced this introduction.

The Extra Support.

Prior to commencing the first class I have a call with each interested participant to ensure that Mindfulness is appropriate for them at this time and any other questions they might have.
During the eight weeks I am also available to participants to explore their experience privately if preferred.

Examples of what individuals can learn during an 8 week Workplace Mindfulness program

  • Using the breath as an anchor to begin training the focus of attention.
  • Noticing more detail in all of the experience – Thoughts, Feelings, Sensations, Actions & Impulses.
  • Awareness of body sensations. Seeing the body as an anchor and radar. Awareness through Movement & Stretching.
  • Benefit of moments of pausing – Creating that gap – Choosing to respond not react.
  • Greater attention to all of our senses – Mindful eating exercise.
  • Bringing mindful awareness throughout our day – movement, communication, breaks.
  • Paying more mindful attention to how you listen and communicate with others.
  • Appreciation of the here and now. Gratitude exercise.
  • Thoughts exercise – noticing interpretations, facts, mood.
  • Using the body to turn towards difficulty rather than using the analysing mind.
  • Actively bringing more kindness to yourself and others.
  • Noticing how you spend your time – What activities Nourish and Deplete you – Rebalancing exercise.
  • What attitudes are you bringing which are supportive of your wellbeing?
